Healthcare SEO Case Study: How Magnero Scaled Liv Hospital to Millions of Monthly Clicks

Liv Hospital is a world-class medical institution, yet online it was far less visible than it deserved to be. At Magnero we tied content, SEO, design, software, advertising, and reputation into one plan and grew the site from roughly 30,000 monthly visits to millions of monthly clicks at its peak. This is a healthcare SEO case study, told step by step and in plain language.

Healthcare SEO Case Study: Liv Hospital

THE OVERVIEW · 02

The 60-second version

LivHospital is an internationally accredited Turkish healthcare group established by MLP Care. Since opening its flagship Ulus branch in 2012, it has expanded to eight locations across Istanbul, Ankara, Gaziantep, Samsun, and Baku. While their clinical reputation was world-class, their online presence lagged with just 30K monthly visits. Over 14 months, we rebuilt their digital infrastructure from the ground up. We deployed a 360° marketing ecosystem, including a custom CRM, WhatsApp Cloud API, offline conversion attribution, programmatic ads in 43 countries, and a 350K-page SEO authority engine. The results were remarkable: monthly organic traffic surged from 30K to a peak of 4.4M (ranking for ~2M U.S. keywords with 270M+ impressions), average transaction value skyrocketed from $300 to $13,000, and patient ratings climbed from 3.8★ to 4.8★.

THE BACKGROUND · 04

The background
behind the decision

Client Context

LivHospital is an internationally accredited, multi-location hospital group in the healthcare sector. Its clinical reputation is already world-class, an asset no marketing budget can buy: international accreditations, a wide range of specialties, and treatment outcomes that transcend borders.

However, in the online world, it didn’t look like the market leader it was. Smaller, lower-capacity competitors, hospitals that had mastered the digital game first, were quietly winning over the patients Liv deserved. The operating rooms were world-class. The pipeline feeding them, however, was not.

Critical perspective: World-class clinical reputation + online presence lagging behind local competitors = the hospital is losing its patient base.

Magnero’s Approach

We didn’t sell a campaign. We proposed building a revenue engine and then nourishing it. Three layers, one system: Infrastructure (CRM + WhatsApp + Offline Conversion) → Demand (360° marketing) → Trust (reputation, referrals, brand).

The order wasn’t random. Each step sets up the measurement infrastructure for the next one. You can’t fix a broken pipeline with advertising. You must build the system first, and then run the campaign.

Key principle: Optimization without attribution = accounting without computers. Tracking first, then tactics.

The challenge · 06

A World-Class Hospital, Nearly Invisible in Search

challenge 01 · A superficial approach

The website described the hospital, not the questions the patient was looking for

The content described the hospital, but it didn’t address the conditions, treatments, and questions people were actually looking for. There was no systematic answer for each step of the clinical journey (symptoms → condition → diagnosis → treatment → recovery → medication → follow-up).

Challenge 02 · No scalable structure

Scattered one-time pages

The content existed not in a structure that search engines would recognize as an authority, but as scattered, standalone pages. There was no topical authority; internal linking was weak; each page was fighting on its own.

challenge 03 · Limited international reach

Single-language content for an organization that attracts global demand

For an institution that attracts patients worldwide, the content was not built around that global demand. There were no structured, multilingual pages that responded to combinations of country, city, treatment, and price.

Challenge 04 · A heavy, slow foundation

A heavy page-building plugin + weak authority signals

The site was reliant on a heavy page-builder plugin that was slowing down its pages. This was both undermining Core Web Vitals and disrupting the structured authority signals sent to search engines.

challenge 05 · Weak authority signals

An average entry fee of $300 meant attracting the wrong fish

Most of the incoming requests were worth around $300 (consultation + entry-level services). Liv’s real strength lay in complex treatment journeys that offered far greater value. The hospital was targeting the wrong market entirely.

challenge 06 · No system · No trackıng

Leads on WhatsApp + the Click-to-Action Gap

Leads were coming in via web forms, phone calls, and most frequently via WhatsApp, the primary channel for international patients. From there, they would simply get lost in spreadsheets, inboxes, and on mobile phones. Because there was no attribution linking a Google click to an actual surgery, marketing was flying blind.

There was also the competition. We deliberately set our sights on the top clinics in the United States, the ones that had ranked at the top of search for years. We did not just want to be visible; we wanted to compete with the very best.

The mission · 06B

The Goals Magnero Set with Liv Hospital

It’s not a promotional offer but a contractual principle. It was written in the first month and remained in full effect in the 14th month.

Goal 01

Be there for every search

Whatever a patient searches about their treatment, Liv Hospital should meet them, leaving as little empty space in the results as possible.

350K+ pages · the entire medical journey

Goal 02

Compete with the best

Build your authority to the point where it can rival the top U.S. clinics that have ranked at the top of search results for years. Not a local competitor, but a global benchmark.

~2M U.S. · organic keyword

Goal 03

Faithful to the rules

Follow Google’s guidelines faithfully to build a foundation that will remain strong in the long run. This was the number one rule: no shortcuts, no black-hat tactics, and no low-quality automated content.

E-E-A-T · strict discipline

Goal 04

 Win the AI era

Be visible not only in organic search but also in AI-generated responses. AI visibility (AEO, GEO, and AIO) has been a top priority from day one, not an afterthought.

AI ERA · Priority from Day 1

Goal 05

Build a lasting asset

Establish a permanent asset for the hospital that continues to operate for years and remains in place even after the campaign ends, ensuring the infrastructure is owned, not rented.

For years · an ever-growing asset

THE STRATEGY + timeline · 07

Turning point

The moment when hundreds turned into thousands.

In the second month, paid traffic was increasing, but revenue wasn’t growing as it should have. The offline conversion data clearly revealed the reason: our best patients weren’t converting through the form. On WhatsApp, they were converting days later, and we were optimizing for the wrong metric.

01 · Discovery

Offline conversion revealed that high-value patients convert via WhatsApp and after a long decision-making period.

Rebuilding Trust in Healthcare via Visible Integrity

Trust is everything in healthcare, and trust begins with what you see. LivHospital lacked guidelines defining how to use its brand, which sometimes led to an inconsistent appearance. We started from scratch by creating a logo redesigned from the ground up, a new brand identity, and an official brand guideline. We then applied this identity across every surface, including the website, logo, Pinterest, blog infographics, and social media, maintaining a balance of clinical tone and humanity with one clear, consistent English voice for an international audience.

Search visibility — the authority engine at scale.

Content & SEO · Actual Data Provided

~350k+ page authority engine + programmatic advertising in 43 countries + 554 Web Stories

Healthcare search is the hospital’s front door. Before a patient seeks a consultation, crosses a threshold, or places their trust, we have built a platform that captures their entire medical journey, at scale and with clinical accuracy, right from that moment onward.

50+ expert editors

This is especially true for an international brand. Its patient base is global rather than local. A patient seeking treatment in the Gulf, Europe, or Africa often begins this journey months before traveling by searching in their own language on a search engine. If the hospital is not present there at that moment with clear, authoritative, and accurate information, the patient will be lost to a competitor even before becoming aware of the brand’s existence.

Our thesis was simple and uncompromising: you cannot win in medical search by publishing a few hundred good pages, as you need to build an authority engine that covers the entire medical journey at scale, with clinical accuracy and editorial discipline.

Authority engine — layer by layer

We didn’t run a “blog campaign.” Instead, we engineered a multi-layered content architecture where each layer serves a distinct stage of the patient journey and a specific search intent, all interconnected within a single topical authority.

Clinical Content Framework

A comprehensive clinical taxonomy that reflects how medicine is actually organized and how patients navigate the system. 26 main categories (cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, neurology…), with 711 subcategories under them, and 5 subpages under each subcategory (individual procedures, treatment options, diagnostic pathways, patient Q&A pages).

Each page is structured around a consistent five-block framework—with two templates based on the type of condition: procedure-focused (Overview → Indications → Diagnosis → Treatment → Recovery) and condition-focused (Overview → Symptoms → Diagnosis → Treatment & Rehabilitation → Lifestyle & Prevention). This modular consistency serves three purposes simultaneously: clinical integrity, a searchable pattern that search engines reward, and structured content that AI response engines can extract.

Blog Engine — Total Demand Capture

This issue is not merely for show; it is a strategy to systematically address the full range of questions patients ask regarding every condition, treatment, symptom, medication, and path to recovery. While the clinical pages focus on the “what we treat” layer, the blog posts address the upper layer of the discovery-focused, question-driven funnel.

Content on this scale is not a series of tasks, but a system. Behind it was a team of more than 50 expert editors and a disciplined, repeatable production process:

Programmatic Country Engine — Global Demand

This is where content strategy and engineering converge on a scale that very few healthcare websites have attempted. To capture the massive and highly specific demand from international patients, we designed a four-part URL architecture:

.com / country / city / topic / subtopic

Every valid 2-, 3-, and 4-part combination of the ~297 target locations, spanning 43 countries and their major cities, has its own indexable page. The key requirement is that each page features unique, non-duplicate content while directly addressing the long-tail, high-intent queries actually entered by international patients.

We built a pricing layer on top of it: each page slug displays the price for that country, plus comparative prices from other countries. A total of ~1,278,585 price points were generated.

Specialized Categories — Technologies, Medications, Check-ups, Guides

Beyond the blog and clinic pages, we’ve launched verticals, each targeting a distinct and valuable search intent: Medical Technologies, which explains the advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies used by the hospital; Medications, which captures high-volume drug queries; Check-up, which is paired with a commercially valuable service line that leads to appointments; and long-form Health Guides, which deepen our topical authority.

Each vertical is linked to related clinical pages and blog posts—so that readers (and search engines) can navigate seamlessly from symptoms → conditions → treatments → medications → technologies → preventive check-ups. This extensive internal linking is what transforms a large collection of pages into a true authority site.

A special platform for hosting the page

The heart of technical SEO — the platform powering the site

A website of this scale is essentially a software project. We built the platform underlying the site from scratch. We removed the heavy page-builder plugin and built our own lightweight widget system, ensuring that the original content is never altered. We designed a custom visual editor so that the content team could build pages without writing code. We wrote an automated migration tool that transferred hundreds of pages without any loss of content. And we made numerous optimizations to ensure the pages load quickly.

CRO · 17B

Conversion optimization — traffic is important; action is even more so.

The main rule: traffic is important, but taking action based on that traffic is even more crucial. Across every step, visit, and device, friction is identified, hypotheses are generated, and experiments are conducted.

The AI Era · 17C

AI Visibility & E-E-A-T — winning the new era of search.

It’s no longer enough to just appear in search results; you need to be a source that AI trusts and cites. We’ve made our content clear, well-organized, and accurate enough for AI to read, trust, and cite; we’ve adhered to the E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) principles, which carry extra weight in the healthcare sector.

When Google switched to AI-powered search, many sites lost visibility, but Liv Hospital did the exact opposite and rose in rankings because it had followed Google’s guidelines and established a solid foundation from the very beginning. There were no shortcuts, no black-hat tactics, and no thin, automated content.

Authority & PR · 17D

Digital PR & off-page authority — trust coming from outside the website.

Part of the trust a website earns comes from external sources. This includes media coverage, being cited on authoritative sites, opportunities to fix broken links, mentions where the site is referenced but not linked, and a backlink audit to remove harmful links.

01 · Digital PR

Digital PR

Earned coverage on media and authoritative websites builds both rankings and reputation, leveraging placements across medical news sites, health magazines, and national and international media.

A measurement infrastructure that tracks actual revenue

We managed growth with data, not guesswork. We integrated GA4, Google Ads, CRM, and WhatsApp into a single measurement layer, modeled offline conversions, and set up a real-time, role-based dashboard for full team visibility. Because you cannot manage what you do not measure, we focused on measuring the right metrics.

Turning point

Once offline conversion tracking was enabled, the campaigns began to generate actual revenue: not from people who filled out forms, but from high-value patients who closed the deal on WhatsApp days later. Once the right metric was measured, optimization also started moving in the right direction.

Behind the Numbers

Behind the 43× figure lies a quieter number that no headline mentions: thousands of patients every year who seek care they cannot find in their own countries, connecting with a real person who guides them from that first WhatsApp message all the way to a life-changing treatment.

The growth here isn’t just about revenue. It’s about access, providing a form of care that, for many, was simply unavailable before.

Why It Worked · 23

These six components are part of every Magnero engagement.

Named senior lead

A senior strategist at Slack, not a rotating account executive. Two specific names for LivHospital.

Full-stack execution

Media, landing pages, creative, tracking, attribution, and CRM are all managed fully in-house without any outsourcing.

Click → surgery

The offline conversion mechanism provides 100% attribution, a metric that no other healthcare agency has been able to establish.

Governance-first

Codified rules transform tribal knowledge by centralizing the patient journey, SLAs, and editorial standards directly in Notion.

E-E-A-T framework

Health YMYL. No article is published without a medical editor. There are no shortcuts, and no thinly veiled automated content.

WhatsApp Cloud Priority

International patients communicate via WhatsApp, not email. We realized this on the very first day, so we set up a Cloud API integration.
